Our Winter Meeting 2018 was held on the 19th of November at Alderhey Children's Hospital, Liverpool.
We chose 'Survive, Thrive and Transform' as our theme for 2018, in line with the 2016 – 2030 WHO Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Strategy.
Substantial gains were achieved in child survival in the era of the Millennium Development Goals however much unfinished work remains, particularly in relation to reducing neonatal mortality. In this, the era of the Sustainable Development Goals there is a shift in our focus from survival alone to ensuring optimal child development and wellbeing. We explored this with a day of expert speakers and engaging workshops, allowing for fascinating insights and stimulating discussions.
We were delighted to be working in association with the Malawian Paediatric and the University of Liverpool as well as our two host institutions, the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust and the Alder Hey International Child Health Group. We are extremely grateful for the support of our partners in facilitating us to hold this meeting. The day encouraged exchange of ideas between professionals in diverse settings for improvement in global child health.
A HUGE thank you to those who attended!
